DrawChord is a free, self-contained set of tools for working with guitar chord diagrams — no ads, no watermarks, no account required. Everything runs entirely in your browser; nothing you draw or look up is ever sent to a server.
The main page is a hand-drawing tool for building your own chord diagrams from scratch. Click to place finger dots, drag across a fret to add a barre, and mute or open strings with a click. You can label dots with finger numbers or switch on Show Notes to label them with the actual pitch instead. Choose from a range of alternate tunings, add reference fret markers, and switch between vertical and horizontal layouts.
When you're happy with the shape, export it as an SVG or PNG at several sizes, or copy it straight to your clipboard to paste into a document, chat, or slide deck.
Type in a chord name — like Am7, C, or F#m7b5 — and pick a tuning, and ShowChord works out a set of playable fretboard shapes for it, from open position up the neck. Click through the variations to compare them, then copy your preferred shape to the clipboard as an image.
Shapes are generated on the fly using standard music theory (not looked up from a fixed, standard-tuning-only chord book), so lookups work for alternate tunings too, not just standard tuning.
The reverse of ShowChord: draw a shape you already know — using the same click-to-place, drag-for-barre, click-to-mute editor as DrawChord — and click Find Chord to identify what it is. Switch on Show Notes to label each dot with its actual pitch while you work out the shape.
Identification runs entirely in your browser using the same music-theory engine as ShowChord, matching the notes you've fingered against common chord types to find the best-fitting name. Once a chord is identified, copy it to the clipboard as an image just like the other tools.
DrawChord doesn't use cookies or accounts, and doesn't store anything you draw or look up — everything happens locally in your browser. The only exception is an anonymous page-view count via GoatCounter, a privacy-friendly analytics service that doesn't use cookies or track individuals, just to get a general sense of how much the site is used.
